We love seeing multiple generations in a family who are all camping together and sharing experiences with each other. Some may be in RVs and others in pop-ups. You might have some tent campers or others who prefer a cabin. It works for everyone because they can all camp in their preferred way while still being together in one place.
Grandparents are a treasure when it comes to sharing their knowledge and experience with the grandchildren. They know the old games that the young one may never even have heard of. They can teach the kids to play Double Solitaire, Rummy, Go Fish, or Chess. Kids also love outdoor lessons like how to tell the time by looking at the sun, how to find the constellations in the stars, and how to use a compass.
Parents find they have more time to talk to their parents, get back in touch with the kids, and spend time together as a couple. There is something about being outside or sitting around the campfire that fosters conversation. You may find yourself sharing ideas, or remembering times in the past. The whole family benefits from times like this.
The kids can contribute, too. Take this time to have them help you get that weird app off your phone, or ask them to explain what the new trends are. They love to show off the new dances that kids are doing today and parents & grandparents are a captive audience.
There are so many connections to renew and build when you spend time camping with multiple generations. You can pool resources and share chores. Have the kids help clean up the campsite, and Grandma can make her famous campfire pancakes. We hope your camping trip is everything you’ve wanted it to be and we look forward to seeing you enjoy time with your family, here at Camp Bell.
