If you want to bring the comforts of modern cooking along with you while you’re out on the campsite, a crockpot is an absolute blessing! Of course, you’ll need a solid plan for what you intend to make with it before you go out. With that in mind, here are a few great crockpot recipes for camping:
1 – Campground Crockpot Tacos
For these mouth-watering tacos, you need to throw an envelope of your favorite taco seasoning, 6 thawed boneless chicken breasts, a whole jar of salsa, and your favorite cheese dip into your crockpot. Be sure to a use a liner to help with the messy ingredients! You need to cook the contents for at least 4 hours on high.
Once your chicken is tender enough to easily shred with a fork, you’ll know it’s ready. Next up, add a cup or so of shredded Mexican cheese, guacamole or sour cream to taste, and plenty of shredded lettuce. Then, you’ll be ready to disperse the mixture between 8 to 10 warmed soft tortillas.
2 – Baked Potato Soup
Here’s one that’s perfect for cold nights! Place a healthy amount of diced and peeled russet and red potatoes into your crockpot along with garlic, plenty of chicken broth, a cup of water, and a tbsp of your favorite seasoning. You should allow it to simmer for at least 6 hours on high heat. Then, add 2 medium sized cubes of cream cheese and mix them in liberally. You can then toss the entire recipe into an immersion blender for a smoother consistency, and you should be ready to serve!
3 – Crockpot Oats
Finally, here’s an easy breakfast you can make. Place 2 peeled apples sprinkled with a tsp of cinnamon and a 1/3 cup of sugar in your crockpot, then sprinkle on 2 cups of dried oats. Next, mix in 2 cups of water, milk, and a tsp of vanilla. You can let the mixture cook overnight – around 10 hours is perfect – and serve it up hot in the morning!
