Half the challenge of camping with the family is keeping your gear organized. The more people you have in your group, the more gear you’ll be trying to keep track of. You want to make sure you have everything you need and don’t have duplicates that just take up space.
Each camping group has their own way of organizing their trip though there are some similarities. We often see people using plastic tubs that are marked for camping areas such as kitchen, bedding, or the name of a child whose clothing and toys are contained within.
A camping checklist is one of your most useful tools in making sure you have everything together before you leave. You can create your list and then make several copies. Use one each time you pack and before you know it you’ll be packing more quickly and efficiently than ever before.
Some like to provide each child with a backpack in which all their gear is packed. This makes it easy for them to help set up and tear down camp. They like to be part of the process and it teaches them about camping which goes a long way in making them a lifelong camper. Eventually they may even start taking their own families camping.
You can make your packing easier if you unpack, clean up, and repack as soon as you get home. Take the time to dry everything out, clean what needs to be cleaned, and pack it back into it’s marked container. The next time you’re ready to pack for your camping trip, you’ll find you might be half done already.
We hope all your camping adventures are good ones and we look forward to seeing you visit us this summer. Be sure to make your reservations and don’t forget to say hello when you see us around the campground.
