Breakfast is a favorite meal when you’re camping. We all love the smell of bacon cooking and look forward to delicious fried potatoes, eggs, and maybe even fresh fruit. It can also be a lot of work and take up quite a bit of time. There is a way to have a delicious breakfast ready to eat whenever your campers come tumbling out of their sleeping bags. You can make breakfast that had by trying these delicious breakfast sandwiches. They can be cooked and assembled at home. You can freeze them for up to six weeks before your trip and bring them along to see your camping crowd.
You’ll need English muffins or small croissants will work well, too. Gather together some eggs, ham, bacon, and cheese of your choice (most people prefer cheddar or Swiss). The sandwiches will taste best if you cook the eggs like a thin crepe. Then once you fold it to place on the sandwich it creates a layered effect which is lighter and more flavorful. Cook the ham, sausage, and bacon that you choose and have it trained and ready.
You can begin layering these ingredients on an open English muffins or croissant. Once they’re all assembled you can pack them in the plastic bags, place them in the freezer, and they will keep for up to six weeks. When you’re ready to leave for your camping trip you can toss the frozen sandwiches into the cooler where they will stay cold and also help to keep the rest of your food cold for the next several days.
When you’re ready to eat you can wrap the sandwiches in tinfoil and set them on the grill or in the campfire for just a few minutes. This will warm them up and melt the cheese. Some of your campers are sleeping you can set the tinfoil packets along the outside of the fire to keep them just barely near the heat source until someone gets up and is hungry.
Breakfast is a wonderful time when you’re camping and it is especially nice when you don’t have to spend a lot of time cooking or cleaning up. These sandwiches will save the day. In fact, you’ll probably enjoy them so much that you will find it convenient to make them to have at home. They can make a busy work day begin much simpler when you can pop a sandwich into the microwave and have it ready in one minute.
